The good ol days.

These are the good ol days. When it was August, the end summer. And no snow. This is Callie riding my Dandy. And these were also the good ol days because the computer would upload my pictures. Now, I don't know how to upload my pictures. As I'd like to upload pictures, I think I ought to try uploading my pictures on someone else's computer to see if I can upload pictures that way, and then add them here or send them to my e-mail.

Anyways, enjoy the pictures of good ol days! and don't worry! very soon the good ol days will soon return!

Biscuit look alike.

From the time I was 2 to 11, my family and I had a Golden Retriever mix, named Biscuit, my sister and I's (or my?) favorite dog we have ever had. We called her "the best dog in the world" and were very sad when we lost her 6 years ago. Anyways, to get to the subject name... My sister took me to go trim some people's goat hooves in Monroe today, and we went on a wrong path on a 'Y' road and knocked on a door to find out I got the wrong house, and the people there told me how to get to the right house. Anyways, as we were getting ready to get back in the car, there was a female dog named Molly, who looked just like our Biscuit. When we petted her and looked at her, all we could see was our Biscuit. From her coats color, to the texture of her coat, a soft silky top coat, with a thick fuzzy undercoat. Her eyes, her face, even her old doggie teeth, looked like Biscuit's (the dog was 13). Even the way the dog acted, so friendly, putting her self right next to us so we could pet her. It was amazing to us, we could not believe how much it felt like reuniting with an old pet. We wanted to take her home and spend lots of time with this dog. But I don't think those friendly folks would have liked that, haha... :)

One of my favorite riders, and horses.

I can tell the announcer is choking up, reading that.

I'd love to be able to ride like her!

Happy Mothers Day!

How fitting for this day. I went out to the barn, and saw a hen standing and huffing and a puffing, so I squatted down so I could get a better look, and within seconds, that hen laid a nice round creamy pink colored egg. And when I picked it up, it was so warm. I love that. I love knowing how old my eggs are. I collect them every day, and write the dates on them. And the eggs from today say, "Happy Mothers Day Egg" on them.
Also, I have 2 hens setting, so I cant wait to get some peepers soon!

A little YEEHAW in the saddle!

I went to see my horse Dandy, and it was such a beautiful day that after I had let Dandy roll in the arena, and lunged him and saddled him and had a good ride with him in the arena, I then decided that we should go ride in the acre pasture for riding. So when I went to mount, he went to get a bite of grass, and I kept him from doing that and then he swiped his hoof at the ground, and I told him "no!". So then he behaved. But he was probably mad about that. So then I mounted him and we walked around the premises, it's good to do that, because then we know what to expect when riding around the premises at a faster gait. And then we trotted around, and then we cantered and then we went the opposite way and it was a good. And then when I was ready to go, we walked, but then I decided just to trot out, but then he decided to canter and run really faster and I was like, what is with this? and then I thought maybe he was still mad about not letting him graze, cause a couple times while walking he tried. And he tried a little bit kicking and grumpiness, and I was slightly worried about falling, and but then I got him halted, and I stopped him, and I was proud of myself, that I got in control, but then I got down, and I griped at him and I could tell that he could tell that I was mad at him, and I was telling him who was boss! cause he thought he could go a mile, even though I didn't give him an inch. But I was proud that even though he was getting out of control, I managed to stay on, and stop him, and I was proud of myself that I am such a good rider, that I could do that.

There is a saying, and it goes like this..."The spirited horse, which will try to win the race of it's own accord, will run even faster if encouraged."

And I feel like that totally fits that situation that happened. It doesn't take too much to get my horse to go, so now I just have to work on stopping him good and always staying in good control. Though I wondered if when I rode him, and the saddle pad is sitting on his mane, and when I ride, I would wonder if that was pulling on his mane at all, so I trimmed a couple inches off at the back of his mane, I think that has improved how comfortable he has been a lot, because I think it was pulling on his mane at fast gaits.

Also, a good tip, that I learned yesterday night, is to never ride a horse that hasn't had a good roll before saddling. Oh sure, he'll let you ride til your done, but then when you stop to dismount, he'll lay down and try his best to roll with the saddle on! I mean come on, what is with that? rolling with the saddle on? does he really think he can get a good roll with his saddle on him?!? lol. So definitely expect that, if you don't let your horse roll before riding. Cause it's all about the roll and getting dirty, with these horses.

Happy Easter Everyone!

Yesterday I was supposed to have a horse riding lesson, and my trainer Kristi called me and said she had an ear infection, and didn't feel like doing any lessons Saturday the 22nd. So we talked about what days would work, and then this morning after church I called her to let her know my mom is leaving tomorrow after she house cleans, and then my mom will be back before March 30th, for my Grandma's (my moms moms) 80th Birthday!

and then my mom is leaving again the 31st for Elgin, and she'll be gone for another week. SO so far no days in March will work for lessons, as long as I don't have any transportation, and right now I don't have any transportation. And we'll see how April will work, for a make up lesson. Unless I can still make up my missed lesson in March still. Doesn't look like I can though.

Measurements. Whats your waist size?

Ok, so tonight I found the measuring tape,
and took it outside to see how BIG those bellies outside are.
The goat bellies, if you didn't realize what I was referring to.

Reflection, a 4 yr old Alpine doe, is 53 ins. around at the belly.
I doubt that she got pregnant. And if she did, there couldn't be more than 1 hiding in there.

Reflection's coming 1 yr old daughter, Appa, aka Cinnabun, is 43 ins. around at the belly.Only 10 (nearly a foot) smaller around than her mom's belly. I KNOW Appa is pregnant.

Shaddo, a coming 2 yr old (tomorrow, happy 2nd birthday Shaddo!) is 49 ins around!

6 ins. bigger than Appa, 4 ins. smaller smaller than Reflection.
So Shaddo is really HUGE!! I can barely wait to see her kids, and to see how many she kids, and how big her kids are, come mid-late March.
Unless she's just getting fat on hay. But she is the 2nd or 3rd, on the alpha pecking order, only because she's still younger than 2 other does in the herd. Cause I barely grain at all, until the babies are born.
And the goats get their minerals in the mineral feeders in the barn.

I'll upload pictures of the goats tomorrow, and of course Shaddo, the birthday doe! and her big belly too :) .

Also, my dad is 48 inches around at the waist, so I called him a pregnant goat, and he quickly replied, "I am not!" lol :)

I on the other hand, am 28 inches at the waist :).

Dandy's leg, all healed!

I've been meaning to post this for over a week now! and I am glad to say, it's barely noticeable, unless you look REALLY close at it. And I am also glad to say, it also looks like all the hair is going to grow all back. Even though the hair kind of looks like it belongs to a curly bashkir! btw, those horses are cute!

Newest pictures of Dandy's leg healing

I'm not sure how it got so dirty around his owwie on his leg, being in a wrap and all, but least the owwie itself isn't dirty. And 2 days ago when I got the pictures, we (Tammy, the boarder, and I) decided not to wrap it, and I called Tammy last night, and she said it's still looking real good, so I am going to how he is doing tonight.

Dandy's leg is healing!

Well I think his leg is looking pretty darn good! for the fact that about two weeks ago now, it looked like a huge pink mushroom was growing out of it! and last night when I got these pictures, when I was wrapping it up in new bandages, it was just dad petting him, and me wrapping him. No halter! so I gave him a REALLY BIG LONG back rub! and he was like a rocking horse, while I was scratching his back, back and forth, he was swaying his back, back and forth. It was so cute and funny.
